Educating Families About the Benefits of Family Meals

Tip of the Week: Baking Christmas Cookies

I recently spent the day baking Christmas cookies with my 18 year-old daughter, and it was a wonderful time to catch up and share holiday memories. We baked our traditional cookies to package and send to my older children out-of-state. They started asking at Thanksgiving when their cookies are coming!

I have heard many stories recently of family cookie traditions and how they are passed from generation to generation. If you are lucky enough to have a grandmother close by, invite her over to teach your children to bake Christmas cookies. Put dinner in the crock pot so after all that sugar, there is a hearty meal waiting for you!

If you don’t have traditional Christmas cookie recipes in your family, start the tradition now. It’s a fun way to build family connectedness and make memories! Here are recipes for the 30 all-time favorite Christmas cookies.
